Renwick Lee Zacherl, 31, of Knox RD 2, a Vietnam War hero, died at 3:40
p.m. Friday in Clarion Hospital.
Born September 10, 1948, in Clarion, he was a son of Andrew and
Louise Lauer Zacherl.
While in Vietnam, Mr. Zacherl was awarded the Air Medal with a
"V" Device on March 12, 1970. He was awarded the medal by
direction of the President of the United States, under the provision of
Executive Order 9242-A, for heroism while participating in aerial flight in
the Republic of Vietnam.
Mr. Zacherl was employed by Dupont Homes in Strattanville.
He married the former Sue Clover December 18, 1979. She survives.
Also surviving are a daughter, Christina Zacherl of Clarion;
a step-daughter, Pam Kiester of Knox RD 2; his parents, Mr. and
Mrs. Andrew Zacherl of Shippenville RD; two sisters, Mrs. Gloria
Kij of Orchard Park, N.Y. and Mrs. Wally (Eloise) Bauer of Lucinda;
and a brother, Andrew E. Zacherl of Eagle Point, Oregon.
Friends will be received after 7 p.m. today at the Robert V. Burns
Funeral Home in Clarion, where the family will receive friends from 7 to 9
p.m. today, and from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday.
A Christian wake service will be held at 8:30 p.m. Sunday in the funeral
home. A Mass of Resurrection will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Monday in
Immaculate Conception Church in Clarion. Rev. John A. Kuzilla will
officiate. Interment will follow in Immaculate Conception Church
cemetery.
